Deleting means you only remove the path to the data but the data will be intact and recoverable until you overwrite it.
Data erasure is overwriting the data in every sector of the drive. This will make recovering the data impossible.
Details of the methods used and the result can be found in the Assurance Report with ref. kjm/dk/10-17 Test level 2: Stellar Physical NIST Purge (NIST SP 800-88)
The General Data Protection Regulation (in short GDPR) is a regulation by the European Commission which intends to strengthen and unify data protection for individuals within the European Union.
Article 17 GDPR Right to erasure (‘right to be forgotten’):
Make sure all your old data is erased by using YOUWIPE. We erase your data and make sure you can resell or donate your hardware without the fair of data loss and get fined.
After erasing your hardware YOUWIPE will generate a report which you could use for the Audit trail, the proof of erasure.
The report will give an overview of the hardware information.
100% Erasure of all data on treated device
Supports: SSD / HDD / Server / PC / Laptop
Complies with the secure data removal in ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA and SOX
Conforms to EU GDPR Article 17 (Right to be forgotten and to erasure)
Immediate support response time (within 2 hours) from receipt of call or e-mail
Of course shredding will make the data unrecoverable but it will also make the machine not reusable. If you erase the data with YOUWIPE you are able to resell the hardware.
Shredding a drive will cost a lot of money per drive. YOUWIPE licenses are way cheaper and there is no need to remove the drive first.
